I just watched The Paw Project Official Trailer. It's about the cruelty behind de-clawing cats (big or small).
I don't recommend watching this at work. Unless you are prepared with the ever-classic "It's just allergies" reponse to "Why are you crying at your desk?"...

I would never do this to Miko. I love her crazy, wall-climbing, hallway-carpet-scratching, play-fighting ways too much. Also, she bites, so it wouldn't solve the 10+ cuts I have on my arm right now anyways...
Mike's stepmom says there's a new laser way that's supposed to be painless for the cat... Don't know if that's true.
ReplyDeleteIt's not just the way the procedure is done, but the long term damage it could do. If not fully removed properly the nail will grow under the skin and could become infected and cause great pain to the animal. Even if it is then properly and fully removed it can lead to arthritis and other mobility issues.
DeleteI just think it's completely unnecessary...keeping care of your cat's claws is part of owning a cat. You wouldn't have a baby and decide to remove their finger nails because it was too hard to cut their nails. Yes. I did compare a cat to a baby. It is the same thing. Miko is my baby after all.
